Azalea visits the social garden of the Red Cross, one of the most important solidarity associations in the national and international scene.
Some members of the Azalea team traveled to Alicante on Friday, July 13th to visit the facilities of the headquarters of the Spanish Red Cross of this province and, especially, the social garden they have..
The Red Cross is one of the main NGOs in Spain which, with more than 150 years of history, works for the vulnerable population, either inside or outside the country. Its functions are focused on socio-economic and environmental protection and prevention services and programs. The main activities covered include a social cycle of total integration, from employment to risk prevention, emergencies, etc.
One of the actions carried out by the Red Cross of Alicante has been the establishment of a garden of a social nature that has been underway since 2012, located in the vicinity of its headquarters. Its objectives are the integration of social groups, disabled people and people in social exclusion, contributing with their education and training in organic farming. "The garden is a national project of 'eco-social garden'. The social approach has always been and is already in the Red Cross”, explains Karine Lopes, member of the Red Cross team and one of the persons responsible for the garden. This forms a playful-educational space that favors the integration of these groups in a cultural and environmental way, promoting traditional agriculture with tasks of design, preparation and maintenance, pest control, composting, etc.
Some associations or companies have also been involved in this activity attending to their corporate social responsibility, contributing in workshops and tasks that help in the development of the garden. "We decided to give the associations a space for leisure, respite and integration," adds Lucía Brugada, member of the Red Cross and partially in charge of the garden.
For its part, the Azalea team works its own garden in order to integrate it so that it stops being an obstacle in the growth of the cities, being able to make it part of the house itself. This social and environmental philosophy shared by the Red Cross and Azalea grants the garden a great value, becoming an important part of the Valencian identity that we work to preserve.
Azalea visits Abora Solar
Azalea visits the factory of Abora Energy SL, supplier of the best hybrid solar panels on the market.
Last Tuesday, July 10, 2018, members of the Azalea team traveled to Aragonese lands to visit the headquarters of the company Abora, in Zaragoza. There they met with the management team and the workers and toured all the facilities, guided and attended by themselves, resolving any doubt or curiosity. Abora is a Spanish company formed by a human team with extensive background and experience in the solar energy sector specializing in the design, development and manufacturing of hybrid solar panels. To do this this, they maximize the profitability of environmental resources with their proposal of technological innovation for the benefit of people and the planet.
With their work, they aim to be leaders in solar technology globally, being recognized for their social responsibility, their quality and their constant innovation of the panels they produce, without forgetting the profitability and design of these and the customers’ own needs.
The team of Abora is made up of nineteen members, whose values are respect, trust and passion for their work. Azalea had the opportunity to meet Alejandro del Amo (CEO) personally, who introduced the visitors through the company’s history in an impressive adventure: from the beginning - when they began to design the panels - to the present. Alejandro, who also participated in the Solar Decathlon Europe in 2012, sympathized with the Azalea team from the first moment and explained how the panel prototypes had been improved over time to reach the current state of the art.
Later, guided by Fernando Perez, head of technical assistance, the team visited the internal body of the company, entering the zone of construction of the panels and witnessing the different phases and processes of production before the panels are ready to be sold. The hybrid solar panels of Abora have won twenty-one awards and are currently considered the best in the market. Abora bets for the constant improvement of its own product, adapting it and improving it to make it as efficient as possible.
The Azalea team is committed to involve everyone into taking care of the environment. We know that there is no shortage of talent in Valencia, having an incredible School of Arts at Universitat Politècnica de València. This is the reason why we want nothing less that one of our own colleagues from UPV to decorate the test bench where we are testing the materials and systems we will use in the construction of our sustainable house.
Do you want to be that person? It's very easy!
If you are currently studying at the School of Arts, fill the contest form and send us a sketch of your proposal. Be as creative as you want, just keep in mind our philosophy. You will find all the information regarding the event in our social networks. The jury will gather on June 19 to choose the winner.
